Privacy Policy

When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and login credentials. This is required to manage your account and security.

We store the text messages and video files (up to 100MB) you upload. This content is encrypted and stored in private cloud environments. We do not access this content except for automated delivery or if required by law.

We collect the email addresses of your designated Trusted Contacts. We use this data strictly for the verification protocol and message delivery. We do not market to these individuals.

We may collect basic usage and technical data, such as login frequency, feature usage, device/browser information, and error logs, to maintain and improve the platform. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or behavioural profiling tools.

When you sign up, we record the version of the Terms of Service you agreed to and the timestamp of that agreement. This is required for legal compliance and your protection.

To perform our contract with you: sending check-in notifications, communicating with your contacts during the verification phase, and delivering your legacy messages.

To help prevent misuse, protect your account, and make sure messages and records are delivered only according to your selected recipients and delivery settings.

We do not use your messages, videos, or personal content for AI training, advertising, third-party profiling, or commercial resale. If SAWYD ever introduces new data-related features, they will require a separate and explicit opt-in agreement.

When you add a Trusted Contact, they will receive an automated email notifying them that they have been designated. This email explains their role and provides a link to request removal of their information at any time. This notification helps support privacy compliance and gives trusted contacts a clear way to understand or remove their role.

Any Trusted Contact may request the removal of their data by contacting hello@sawyd.com. We will process such requests within 30 days. Note that removing a contact may affect your trusted-contact verification process.

We do not track the browsing habits or online behavior of your Trusted Contacts.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active and the service is in use.

When a delivery condition is confirmed through the trusted-contact process, we retain related messages only as long as needed to complete delivery and maintain necessary service records, unless a longer period is required by law.

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through your dashboard. Once deleted, your account data — including messages, contacts, and check-in records — will be deleted from active systems within 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required by law. Backup copies may remain temporarily until backup rotation cycles expire.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or request a copy of your personal data. For users in the EU and Serbia, SAWYD acts as the Data Controller for the personal information processed through the service.

Data may be stored on secured servers located in the EU or USA. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as contractual protections provided by our service providers.

To exercise any of your GDPR rights — access, correction, deletion, or portability — contact us at hello@sawyd.com. We will respond within 30 days as required by law.

SAWYD may introduce additional export or data portability features in the future. Any such features will require a separate and explicit opt-in agreement.

All legacy videos and messages are encrypted at rest and in transit (SSL/TLS). Access is restricted via strict internal protocols.

We regularly review our security practices and infrastructure to protect against unauthorized access or data breaches. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will take appropriate steps required by applicable law, including notifying users and/or regulators when legally required.

SAWYD uses essential cookies only — for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. Because these cookies are necessary for the service to function, they are treated as essential cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will affect your ability to log in.

SAWYD is intended for users aged 18 and over. The nature of our service — private future messages and digital legacy planning — is not appropriate for minors. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will delete it promptly. This helps keep the service appropriate for adults and supports compliance with child privacy laws.
